Throw My Hands in the Air

I've tried, twice now, to write something about the significance of the Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear, and I'm not getting anywhere. Maybe I'll find the words later on, but right now I keep getting sucked into a morass of postmodern protests and trying not to put Jon Stewart and Glenn Beck on an equal footing.

The rally was fun. I could have done without the Stephen Colbert robot morality play towards the end, but Jon Stewart redeemed it all with a call for turning the volume down, which is basically what he had said the rally would be about beforehand.

I still think the notion of an ironic rally is a coping device for what's going to be a pretty brutal election.
